Abstract

In April 2024, there was year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation in North Sumatra Province of 3.96 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 106.59. The highest inflation occurred in Labuhanbatu Regency at 5.78 percent with a CPI of 110.41 and the lowest occurred in Deli Serdang Regency at 3.42 percent with a CPI of 106.07.

y-on-y inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by the increase in the index of all expenditure groups, namely: food, beverage and tobacco group by 8.86 percent; clothing and footwear group by 2.21 percent; housing, water, electricity, and household fuel groups by 0.55 percent; household equipment, equipment and routine maintenance group by 1.24 percent; health group by 1.08 percent; transportation group by 1.24 percent; information, communication, and financial services group by 0.17 percent; recreation, sports, and culture groups by 1.63 percent; education group by 1.54 percent; food and beverage/restaurant provision group by 1.75 percent; and the personal care and other services group by 4.22 percent.

The month-to-month (m-to-m) deflation rate was 0.04 percent and the year-to-date (y-to-d) inflation rate was 1.49 percent.
