Abstract

The value of exports through loading ports in the North Sumatra region in May 2022 decreased compared to April 2022, from US $ 1.29 billion to US $ 761.86 million or a decrease of 40.99 percent. When compared to May 2021, North Sumatra's exports decreased by 16.49 percent

The category of goods that experienced the largest decline in export value was the animal/vegetable fat & oil category of US $ 360.20 million (-68.76%), followed by the aluminum goods group of US $ 37.37 million (-68.22%). Meanwhile, the category of goods that experienced an increase in the export value of organic chemicals group amounted to US $ 5.45 million (6.37%).
Exports to China in May 2022 were the largest at USD 151.42 million, followed by the United States at USD 88.76 million and Japan at USD 52.01 million with the third contribution reaching 38.36 percent. According to the group of major export destination countries in May 2022, exports to the Asian region (outside ASEAN) were the largest with a value of US$ 296.35 million (38.90%).
