In September 2020, (the level of inequality in population expenditure as measured by) North Sumatra's Gini Ratio was recorded at 0.314. There was a slight decrease of 0.002 points when compared to March 2020 which amounted to 0.316. A decrease in the Gini Ratio means a decrease in the level of expenditure inequality.
The Gini Ratio in urban areas in September 2020 was recorded at 0.336, slightly decreasing compared to the Gini Ratio in March 2020 which was 0.338. On the other hand, the Gini Ratio in rural areas in September 2020 was recorded at 0.258, an increase compared to the Gini Ratio in March 2020 which was 0.255.
In September 2020, the distribution of group expenditures
the lowest 40 percent of the population is 21.48 percent.
This means that the population expenditure is still in the category
low level of inequality. If broken down by region, at
urban areas the figure was recorded at 20.18 percent and
in rural areas the figure was recorded at 24.06 percent
which means that both are also in the category of inequality
low.
